Tennessee TEAM Teacher Evaluation Software
Run TEAM evaluations on the Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model rubric, combining classroom observation with TVAAS student growth and achievement measures, aligned to TDOE expectations.
TEAM is the entry point, not the whole story. In EX in Education, TEAM evaluations connect to coaching, goals, PD, and retention, so every educator moves from hired to thriving.
TEAM Classroom Observation
In short: Tennessee evaluates educators through TEAM (the Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model), combining observation on the TEAM general educator rubric, three domains (Planning, Instruction, and Environment) scored on a 1-to-5 scale, plus a separate Professionalism rubric, with student growth (TVAAS) and achievement data into an overall Level of Overall Effectiveness (LOE).

Tennessee's TEAM Evaluation Framework
The Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model is the state's system for evaluating educator effectiveness. TEAM combines a qualitative classroom observation on the TEAM rubric with quantitative student growth from TVAAS and achievement measures, then rolls them into a Level of Overall Effectiveness. In EX in Education, that framework is the doorway into a connected system for coaching, PD, and retention.
Qualitative: The TEAM Rubric
The observation side of TEAM scores teaching practice on the General Educator Rubric across three domains, Planning, Instruction, and Environment, with Professionalism on a separate rubric. All of it comes pre-configured in EX so evaluators score against the indicators without rebuilding forms.
- Instruction
- Planning
- Environment
- Professionalism
Quantitative: Growth & Achievement
TEAM pairs the observation with quantitative student outcome data, then combines everything into one Level of Overall Effectiveness. EX tracks each measure alongside the observation evidence.
- TVAAS student growth scores
- Student achievement measures
- Observation scored on a 1 to 5 scale
- Measures combined into one Level of Overall Effectiveness
Complete TEAM Rubric Coverage
All three TEAM observation domains and the separate Professionalism rubric are pre-built in EX in Education, so Tennessee evaluators can observe, score, and generate evidence for the TEAM observation from day one.

- Combined with observation into the overall rating
TVAAS and the overall rating: The Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System measures student growth and contributes a set share of a teacher's Level of Overall Effectiveness, alongside qualitative observation and achievement measures. EX supports the TEAM rubric and the observation structure your district uses, records each component measure, and adapts as TDOE weighting or policy changes.
Level of Overall Effectiveness, Tracked Over Time
TEAM produces a Level of Overall Effectiveness on a 1 to 5 scale. EX in Education records each rating, ties it to the evidence behind it, and carries it forward so growth is visible from one cycle to the next.
Significantly Above Expectations
Exceptional practice with strong impact on student learning
Above Expectations
Skilled practice with clear positive outcomes
At Expectations
Proficient practice that meets standards
Below Expectations
Developing practice that needs targeted support
Significantly Below Expectations
Ineffective practice that requires intensive support
Under TEAM, each teacher receives a Level of Overall Effectiveness from 1 to 5, determined by combining qualitative observation on the TEAM rubric with TVAAS student growth and achievement measures. Teachers rated Below Expectations or Significantly Below Expectations are supported with a growth plan. EX in Education keeps each teacher's rating history, component scores, and improvement plans in one place, and routes the ones who need support into coaching cycles so a rating leads to next steps, not just a score.

Tennessee TEAM: frequently asked questions
What is TEAM?
TEAM, the Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model, is Tennessee's evaluation model. Each educator's evaluation combines classroom observation on the TEAM rubric with student growth and achievement data, which roll up into an overall Level of Overall Effectiveness (LOE).
How is the TEAM rubric organized?
The TEAM general educator rubric covers three domains: Planning, Instruction, and Environment. Professionalism is evaluated on a separate Professionalism rubric. Each indicator is scored on a five-point scale, from significantly below expectations (1) to significantly above expectations (5).
What is TVAAS, and how does it factor into the rating?
TVAAS, the Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System, measures a teacher's impact on student growth. TVAAS growth data, along with an achievement measure, is combined with observation results to produce the Level of Overall Effectiveness on a 1-to-5 scale.
What happens with a low TEAM score?
Educators who receive a Level of Overall Effectiveness or an individual TVAAS score of 1 receive coaching conversations and targeted support, so a rating leads to next steps rather than just a number.
